The Fennec Fox Art was exciting for all the students. Mrs. Dunn thought it would take two days to do the art, but it took one day. It was hard to do the fennec fox art but it was fun. We used water colors for the background. We used black sharpie marker for the plants. We used chalks sfor the fox and learned to do some shading. All the students worked hard for the fennec fox art. Thank you Mrs. Dunn
On Wednesday, May 18th, Mrs. Dunn's spectacular third grade class took a walking trip to the historical house of A. S. Bradford. We walked one mile to the house, and one mile back. When we finally got there, three tour guides were patiently waiting. We got to look at the entire house! (Actually not, most people didn't get to see the basement.) The girls got to hear about what they would do as chores. They ironed clothes with an actual heavy iron! The boys used tools to carry huge ice blocks into cabinets called the ice box. Whose chore was harder? There was a towering old Redwood tree that was mysterious because nobody knows how it got there. It's slowly but surely dying and may people are trying to save it. The first wife of Bradford's three, Fanny, wanted to say they were rich without speaking it. So, she bought an expensive ruby window. In the kitchen, there was glass positively everywhere! Glass plates, glass bowls, glass cups, glass everywhere! It was super fancy! The upstairs had many interesting surprises. We learned if a family died, the girls went into mourning. That meant they had to wear black for a year! There is so much more, but if it was all written down here, it would be longer than Bradford's enormous dictionary on its own stand! Take your family for a tour to discover more interesting facts about A. S. Bradford, the Father of Placentia! |
