The two third grade classes went on a field trip to the Tessman Planetarium at Santa Ana College. It was amazing when we saw a picture that looked like stars on the ceiling. It was really a galaxy. We also learned that Pluto's moon had the second largest canyon that we know of. We also learned that Pluto orbits its moon while its moon orbits it. We were able to see two shows. One show let us see a video on the first singing astronaut. After the first show we had a snack and after the second show we ate lunch by the college students. Then we went back to school.

Our class received 3 new IPADS to help with our learning. We also also now have 40 Chrome Books to use in our pod.
One day our class had 12 students on WOW at the end of the day. We also call WOW - RAINBOW! Needless to say, Mrs. Dunn was one happy teacher that day. ;)
The PTA awarded our class with an ice cream party for one of the classes having the most parents that joined PTA. Thanks for supporting PTA moms and dads, we loved the ice cream!
Before the party, Mrs. Dunn gave us a big piece of red paper and we took it home and wrapped it around a shoe box. At school, we decorated the box with Valentine decorations and then our friends delivered their valentines to our mail boxes. At the party, we played a very cool Valentines matching game. If you got two matches you got to clip up, Next, we got our boxes and got to see what we got from our friends in our boxes. There was awesome candy and toys. Then, we did a little math measurement Valentine's game. Last, we got hearts and got a sheet to put all the colors in. We also had a guessing game and, of course, our moms brought in cupcakes and a drink for us. When Ms. Lawrence did our Valentine door we had a job. Our class would write what they love about 3rd grade. We wrote words like: Chrome Books or P.E. and a lot put Mrs. Dunn. Now it is stuck to the door until next month. Everyone loves it and the colors are bright and happy, just like our class.
Sending our love to Mrs. L. for our cute and beautiful door! Here's some examples of outstanding writing. The organization of ideas and use of descriptive words make this writing exceptional. A True Friend by Treven In the novel Charlotte’s Web, it shows you four ways to be a true friend. First, a true friend is a person that helps them like Fern saved Wilbur’s life by holding her father’s ax and not letting go. Wilbur was a runt so Mr. Arable wanted to kill him. Second, a true friend is someone who saves your life or helps you. Charlotte saved Wilbur’s life by writing nice words in her web to describe him. Charlotte said, “Can I be you friend?” And Wilbur said, “Yes!” Third, a true friend is someone who gets something for you that you can not reach. Wilbur told Templeton to get Charlotte’s egg sac and Wilbur said you can eat first from my trough. Templeton said, “yes.” Templeton respected Wilbur and Wilbur respected Templeton. Last, a true is someone who doesn’t leave you alone. Once the egg sac hatched, Charlotte’s 514 babies hatched. 511 spiders went away and 3 stayed and became Wilbur’s friend so he wouldn’t be lonely. The names of the spiders are Joy, Nellie, and Arenea and they became true friends. As you can see, Charlotte’s Web is an amazing friendship book. A True Friend by Nate In the fantasy novel Charlotte’s Web, it easily teaches four ways to be a true friend. First, a true friend is loyal. For example, in Charlotte’s Web, Charlotte was very loyal to Wilbur by telling Wilbur that he will be fine and will not die. Second, a true friend listens to you. To explain further, in Charlotte’s Web, Charlotte listened to Wilbur to make him feel better. Third, a true friend helps you. An example in Charlotte’s Web is, Charlotte helped Wilbur to not die by writing describing words in her web. Forth, a true friend comforts you. For instance, in Charlotte’s Web, Charlotte comforts Wilbur when he thinks he is going to die. As you read Charlotte’s Web it tells you what a true friend is. True Friend by Eden In the enthralling novel Charlotte’s Web, it excitingly teaches how to be a true friend. To begin with, a true friend is loyal and kind. In support of this, Wilbur found out that Charlotte was loyal when Charlotte told him that she would save his life.Pursuing the future, a true friend encourages you to be kind to others. To explain further, Charlotte and Wilbur encouraged each other to be kind and caring to Templeton when he was grumpy, rude, and rotten. Furthermore, a true friend is somebody who is amazingly fun to play with. As evidence, when Wilbur was lonely, Charlotte played with Wilbur. Additionally, a true friend is someone you want to be with and someone who comforts you. For instance, when Wilbur was sad and lonesome, Charlotte comforted Wilbur and cared for him. Unquestionably, you can probably see that the intriguing novel Charlotte’s Web teaches how to be a true friend. It was the last day of school in 2015 and it was the day of our Holiday Party. We guessed how many little pieces of candy were in a jar. We played a gamed called "The Left and Right Game." We listened to a story and passed our presents from Mrs. Dunn to the "left" and to the "right" until we ended up with the present we got to keep. We all received a new book to read. We watched the movie "Shrek the Halls." We made snowmen out or marshmallows and pretzels and ate Rudolph cupcakes. In addition, we made reindeer ornaments and drew a snowman on a paper plate on our head! But the saddest part was saying good-bye to our friends for a while, but we got treats! |
